The short version
Read the reports, quote them, argue with them. A grade is our opinion, formed from documents we publish and link. If we get a fact wrong, tell us and we will correct it in public.
What this site is
Opportunity Grade is an independent publication. It grades multi-level marketing and business-opportunity companies against a published rubric, and it is published by Listech Inc, a Nevada corporation.
It is journalism and analysis. It is not legal, financial, tax or investment advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to join or avoid any company. What a report gives you is what the company's own documents say, what the public record says, and a reasoned opinion about what that adds up to. The decision is yours.
How to read a grade
This is the most important section on this page, so it is stated plainly.
A grade is an opinion. It is the weighted composite of nine published dimension scores, each of which is a judgment we made about evidence we cite. Reasonable people reading the same documents could weight them differently and reach a different letter. The rubric, the nine dimensions and their weights are published on How we grade so you can see exactly how a letter was reached and disagree with it specifically.
The facts underneath are not opinions, and we hold ourselves to them. Every factual claim in a report is sourced to a primary document - a compensation plan, an income disclosure, a filing, a court record - and linked. Where we hold a copy, it is in our evidence archive with a SHA-256 hash. If a fact is wrong, that is a correction we owe you, and the process is below.
Allegations are reported at their stated stage, and stage matters. A complaint is an allegation. An administrative notice is not a court judgment. A first-instance decision under appeal is not final. We label these and we do not collapse them into a conclusion that somebody did something unlawful. Where a matter is contested or unresolved, the report says so.
A grade is a snapshot with a date on it. Companies change their compensation plans, their prices and their disclosures. A report states when it was written and what it was written from. A grade moves when the evidence moves it, in either direction.
Corrections and right of reply
We publish a correction when we get something wrong. Write to corrections@opportunitygrade.com, point at the sentence, and send the document that contradicts it. A primary document beats an assertion every time, including ours.
If you are a company we have graded, you have a right of reply and you do not need a lawyer to use it. Send us your position and the documents behind it. If we are wrong we will say so on the report itself rather than quietly editing it, because a silent edit destroys the record that makes the rest of this site worth reading.
No affiliate links, and disclosed interests
No company has paid for a grade. No report on this site carries an affiliate link. Our editor holds affiliate positions in some companies elsewhere in his business, and every one of those is disclosed at the top of the affected report and in full on the About page - including the grades those companies received, which are not flattering.
Using our material
Quote us. Cite us. Link to us. Short quotations with attribution to Opportunity Grade and a link to the report are fine and we would rather you did that than paraphrase us inaccurately.
What you may not do is republish whole reports as your own, or scrape the site wholesale to rebuild it elsewhere. The reports, the rubric and the evidence archive are our work.
Third-party documents in our archive belong to whoever wrote them. We hold copies as evidence for the findings that cite them; we make no ownership claim over any company's compensation plan or income disclosure.
Links out
We link to primary sources constantly, including to the companies we grade. A link is a citation, not an endorsement, and we do not control what is on the other end of it.
No warranty
We research carefully, cite everything and correct what we get wrong. We cannot warrant that every fact on a site this size is accurate or current at the moment you read it, and we do not. The site is provided as-is.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Listech Inc is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or any decision you make after reading it. Some jurisdictions do not allow this, and where that is so, this does not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you have a dispute with us arising from your use of this site or from these terms, it must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Washoe County, Nevada, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts for that purpose.
What this section is not. It governs disputes with readers about these terms. It is not a statement about where any other kind of claim may be brought, and it does not apply to anyone who has not agreed to these terms. A company we have graded is not a party to this agreement, and nothing here purports to control where such a company could bring a claim.
Changes
If these terms change materially the date at the top changes with them.
