If you own copyright in something you believe is reproduced on this site without permission, this is how to tell us. We take it seriously and we act on valid notices.

Read this first, because it usually resolves the matter

Most notices we would expect to receive concern documents in our evidence archive - a compensation plan, an income disclosure, a policies-and-procedures document - held as the source behind a published finding.

We hold those copies because a citation nobody can follow is not evidence, and because documents of exactly this kind are removed from company websites routinely. That is not an accusation; it is the observed reason a large part of our archive exists. Whether holding a copy for that purpose is fair use is a question of law, and a good-faith DMCA notice is required to consider it (17 U.S.C. 512(f), and Lenz v. Universal). We will consider a notice on its merits, and we will say publicly what was removed and why.

A DMCA notice is not the right tool for a disagreement about a grade or a finding. If you think we got a fact wrong, the corrections process is faster, it is free, and it actually changes what readers see. Write to corrections@opportunitygrade.com. Copyright law does not reach an opinion you dislike, and a notice aimed at one is a misrepresentation under 512(f).

Sending a notice

Write to our Designated Copyright Agent at dmca@opportunitygrade.com (full details below) and include everything 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3) requires:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
  • The specific URL of the material on this site. Not the home page - the page and the item.
  • Your name, address, telephone number and email.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice under 512(g) with your signature, identification of what was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake, and your contact details and consent to jurisdiction.

Repeat infringers

This site publishes only its own writing and the source documents behind it. It hosts no user uploads. If that ever changes, we will terminate repeat infringers.
